Ah yes, you smoke and then can’t drive at all for a week. That’s totally a well written law. /s
That “proof” should be laughed out of any court. It doesn’t prove you were under the influence at the time. At all.

It literally has a link in the notification box telling you it needs to restart, to help you schedule a time and adjust active hours, and explains what that means without having to go to an online help page.

Not sure what else you want.

Torvalds had spent 18 months running a broken version of his own fix for the page-cache reference-counting bottleneck, while other developers had encountered problems with their approaches.
The article mentions he had been working on solving the issue for 18 months already… so at least that long.

Is it an understanding failure, an unexpected interaction, or just an existing issue now exposed? A 23x performance increase could very well expose an existing race condition that systems weren’t fast enough to run into.
People make mistakes. Software bugs existing at all is proof of this. This is certainly not the first time a change Torvalds approved has an issue, and it won’t be the last.
There’s a reason code is reviewed, and there’s a reason people still go through after it is approved and verify. The process is working exactly as designed, the way it has for decades before AI coding.
Expecting absolute perfection is ridiculous, the anti-AI circlejerk acting like only AI fucks up just makes them look ridiculous. Any developer could have developed this fix, and there would be no article. Nothing in this issue is specific to AI usage and treating it like it is somehow special just undermines arguments against AI slop and vibe coding in general.

That requires the person to know what they’re doing, and using the AI as the tool it is. That’s a proper use of generative AI in coding, to speed up a human-driven process with oversight.
That’s not what AI slop is, AI slop is what vibe coders do. They don’t know how any of the shit actually works, they just tell the AI to do something, and modify prompting until it gives them something that works. They can’t fix the issues because they don’t know what was done in the first place.
The problem is that both use types look identical to anyone not directly involved in the project. Things like Claude don’t tell you whether it was used by a vibe coder or a responsible developer, it looks exactly the same.

This certainly seems like Steam already had a bug open for startup performance, but it was always a lower priority than other things (because it wasn’t a breaking issue, and startup was still generally fine) so it was just never addressed. It may even have had a partial fix that hadn’t been shipped yet, waiting for another pass at it.
Once Epic tried to use that as an attack, they just fixed it as the low hanging fruit it was.

Even then, some municipalities in California (and a handful of other States and DC) specifically allow non-citizens to vote in local elections.

Even ignoring the insecure drive…
While being a US Citizen is a requirement for National and State level elections, it is not a requirement for some local elections. The District of Columbia and certain municipalities in California, Maryland, and Vermont allow non-citizens to vote in some or all local elections.
So some non-citizens being registered in California isn’t unexpected, and is completely legal.

Don’t leave security updates hanging for over a week then. That’s when the system starts trying to actively fix your inability to utilize ANY of the update delay and scheduling options included in the OS.
Microsoft and many other companies release updates literally the second Tuesday of each month. The update cycle is so common and decades old that there is literally a name for it, Patch Tuesday.

There’s nothing “random” about it.
Microsoft releases their updates (except really time critical security updates) during Patch Tuesday, the second Tuesday of each month.
You can delay restarting after updates do the initial install, which it does in the background after downloading by default, for 7 days before it starts pushing you. The restart is needed when files that are currently in use need updating, not all updates require that.
At any point you can also schedule an update time for it to finish the install. And you can set active hours for it to not update during times when you usually use your system.
If you continue to ignore finishing the update process, it will eventually consider it critical (after like a month of delayed updates) and will force an update on its own because you’ve been delaying it for so long, you are not attempting to schedule it, and you are not telling the system to pause updates. So you’re literally ignoring every option given to you to manage updates.
Your system “randomly” updating means you are not utilizing the options to schedule and plan times the system can regularly update, AND are not keeping your system anywhere near up to date manually.

You say this, but I can tell you that there are real people that follow that line of thought. Not a lot in the grand scheme, but they can vote just like anyone else. And that type of reasoning permeates everything they do.

And the paint, don’t forget the leaded paint. And the ceramic tile. And cosmetics. And costume jewelry. And pipes/plumbing. And pottery. And older vinyl, like blinds. And almost all older strained glass uses lead to hold the panels together. And even older plastics often contained lead to soften the material, and we all know how badly old plastic often deteriorates.
There’s a shit ton of lead in products made before the turn of the century.

The Boomers grew up with EVERYTHING having lead in it, including the air thanks to leaded gasoline. Prolonged lead poisoning is almost surely a factor there.

There are of course exceptions since there’s over a dozen Android manufacturers trying to differentiate themselves. But the default Android behavior used by most of them was changed to match Apple back in 2021 with Android 12.

That is necessary for the Rapture they so clearly want to happen.
For the likes of Donnie and his donors, it makes the military industrial complex a lot of money.

Ah yes, the sophistication of Cat Fudge.

There’s zero benefit, and neither existed before 9/11
And nothing they do now would have stopped 9/11.

So what are the chances she has an abortion in her past?
Everything any Republican talks about ends up being projection, why would this be an exception? They only ever talk about things they have direct experience with. The most vocal anti-gay ones are the most closeted. The anti-drag ones are the ones cross-dressing at home.

Pretty sure that’s copying a change Apple made first, turning the power button into an assistant button. Because adding another button for that, is obviously out of the question.
Oh it wouldn’t be Idiocracy, we would definitely be headed down the Cyberpunk route at this point, but without the cool augmentation stuff. Just the Megacorp bullshit.
