I hate it, but I will vote for whatever right wing party will most likely be their opponent in the second round. There’s no way I’m sitting this one out when a putinist-trumpist party would control the country.

Not a rumour, there are pictures without his glasses. Sorry if I missed a joke

January 2025, I realize I don’t want to spend the whole year suffering king cunt’s awful rhetoric (it failed), I block his name with ublock. A few months later I forgot about it and spend an hour trying to figure out why I can’t find my Lemmy post mentioning Trump.
It works really well.
Both answers to @PeriodicallyPedantic@lemmy.ca seem to imply there’s a hidden insult in their comment, but I can’t find it. I’m the dumb cookie and I don’t like that

I forgot: I called two more times recently because my phone screen would not turn on, and apparently there’s a setting in LineageOS to call the emergencies if you fiddle with the buttons, so as to make the situation even worse, and then there’s a voice telling you you’re about to talk to someone and you can’t hang up! (Edit: I suppose they would call back in any case).
Happened twice before I found the setting.
So yeah, I wasted their time, again.

15 years ago, young student, I’m walking home around midnight. In the middle of a bridge I see a human shape jumping in the water. I’m not 100% sure. I ask a group of people further up on the bridge if they saw anything, they didn’t, but said I still should call 112.
One or two police cars came, and then one (or 2?) fire truck. Lots of people. Some went with full diving equipment in the water.
They couldn’t find anyone, said it was surprising as the water was very low. The fireman captain gave me the stinkeye.
Police had left their lightbar on and the car wouldn’t start (I think that was the reason) so I helped to push.
I had to come to the police station and tell what I saw many, many times.
Only years later did I realize I was being interrogated, to find out if my story had holes. I was quite naive (dumb works too).
I wasn’t drunk, depressed, or had any kind of weird fantasies that would make me want to invent a story. It’s the only time I called the cops in my life.
All cops were friendly, even though they must’ve thought I was lying or had too much imagination.
Did someone jump? Now I think not. But at the time I really thought there was a possibility, and I wouldn’t take any chances. I just didn’t realize how many people and resources would be involved.

How fast was that fucker driving again? in a residential area, with “watch out for the kids” signs if I remember correctly.
Edit: 96 in a 35 mph zone
Some black people do use it.
Some say it’s derogatory, other say it isn’t. I have never seen it used in a positive way.
Pixel or screen %, you know what I mean.
But yeah no followup seems to be an issue with the GDPR

I was living with roommates clueless about house maintenance stuff.
So one day I explain we should purge the radiators. Did I forget to say "purge the air"? I dont know. But the bucket I told em to use to catch water spilling one roommate thought was supposed to be used to empty the radiators.
I was on the computer and saw him from the corner of my eye go empty his bucket a few times before I caught on.
And you dont think that’s really vague though?
Why not mandate a x by x pixel popup with a specific wording?
I remember this French company, I think SFR (phone), which had to show on their website their condemnation. Since there weren’t clear specifications they made it so the message would disappear when you scrolled down one pixel, so almost no one saw it.
Acting like I’m spreading misinformation while your comment still clearly states it declines which it does not. I was correcting that part.
Although I see how my comment could mean all cookies get accepted. Wasn’t my intention
So really naive lawmakers then? Come on, that’s not how you make a company obey, everyone knows that, yet legislators time and again do an oopsie and make a highly symbolic law that obviously won’t work because there’s no coercion!
“Make it easy”
If you make a vague law that companies can circumvent they will do it.
That’s why you force the use of a standardized menu, because nothing else makes sense, no? The same way you don’t leave it to the tobacco manufacturers to implement the warnings on the box ; you force them all to adopt the same one that’s clearly visible.
It feels like it’s either severe incompetence, or the work of lobbyists. But I don’t know enough about the matter
Cookies are accepted immediately and the banners closed
Why oh why didn’t the lawmakers add an obligation to use a standardized cookies selection popup.
I remember day one of it coming into effect and it was already obvious this was a necessity.
Lobbying. One of those laws pretending to do the right thing but sabotaged.
Or maybe its even worse than that.
Before you could just have the cookies deleted. But if you do that now you get the awful popup every time, so you just accept them in the end.
I know I do.
This law has made me accept cookies spying.

I checked the drive’s health with badblocks tonight, which wiped everything unfortunately.
Then I tried another distro (Ubuntu) and the issue was gone.
I didn’t check the hash for failing files, but I downloaded with rsync also and the issue still happened.
Thank you very much for your help though. When I find the time I’ll reinstall Fedora, and if the issue repeats itself I’ll do more tests.
I’m not sure we needed John Cleese’s acknowledgment, but yes it’s a good joke
