You did the right thing, the person was angry with no real outlet for it, so their brain found someone to blame to release that tension. They were not thinking rationally and attempts to argue would have been stonewalled and probably would have escalated things.

Acronyms vs Initialisms

No one is going to try pronounce Fbi, it’s awkward.

There are terms that bridge the Acronym/Initialism divide. SQL-Sequel, URL-Earl and GUI-Gooey are some that come up fairly regularly in my line of work.

The bottom line is; Language is used to communicate concepts. We are lazy and do it as efficiently as we can get away with. The rules have changed a LOT to get us where we are today. It would be blind hubris to think the change will stop just because we don’t like it.

My partner has been very bullish on India’s economy in the future. I think the EU is proving her right.

If the company were Apple, the change would stick. If it were Microsoft, the change would be rolled back for 2 weeks and then quietly re added.

No to self defence. You learning self defence will only provoke a stronger response from the guys who will go up to and beyond killing you, and may call in actual military support if required.
